Henbury take 2025 SafeGolf Club Competition

With teams battling with road closures and long diversions all the players made it on time to an early start at Ross-on-Wye GC.

After the recent warm days it was refreshing to have a cooler one to play the competition and everyone enjoyed the course as well as the Sandwiches and Chips that followed.

The SafeGolf Club Competition has been running since 2012 when the accreditation was known as Golfmark and recently changed to SafeGolf.  Teams of 4 are invited to play with one person from each section of the club.  It is a social time to congratulate the clubs on achieving the accreditation and all the hard work that goes into that.  It is great to hear many comments to that effect 'it was great to be able to play with all the Captains of their respective sections on a social event'

It was even more amazing that the top 3 teams all carded 83 points, so a countback ensued (good job it is all done on computer these days!).

Apart from the main competition there was also Nearest the Pins on all the Par 3's:

7th Hole - Steve Wallbank (Ross-on-Wye)  9th Hole - Roy Speakman (Cotswold Hills)  12th Hole - Richard Hargreaves (Long Ashton)

The 12th hole was also were all the 2's were recorded.

Congratulations to Henbury and all the players and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!

A huge thanks go to all the team at Ross-on-Wye GC for hosting the competition as they were the winners in 2024.  We were very well looked after and the course in great condition.
