County Academy v County Under 14 Boys

After a week of 4 seasons in one day weather Cirencester welcomed our annual GGU v CAP match with warm sunshine
and some light wind
Our top pairing of Ambrose Eaves and Riley Wood came in oof the back of impressive results in the Glos and Avon
schools champs and negotiated the front 9 in level par gross but found themselves 3 down to and impressive ones to
watch Nathan Davies and Isaac Vitale
The as always effervescent Charlie Ford and Daniel Prashad found themselves going toe to toe through a tight front 9
against James Prior and Nathan Carey while Will Gregory and Charlie Pearce Ward key things equally tight with Tom
Chapman and Matthew Murphy
The power paring of Ethan Jay and Edison Butler found early on that the shorter shots they had going in were needed as
the CAP pairing of Henry Biddle and Tom Kemerey used their shots well while the final groups saw Thomas Sneddon
and Jack Satterthwaite build up a strong early lead against GGU Pairing Jack Lockwood and Luis Brain
Ambrose and Riley tried to force things and take a few chances on the back but ultimately fell 3&2 to Nathan and Issac
while Charlie and Daniel maintained the pressure never being down to beat James and Nathan on 17 while the extra
strength come to fruition for Ethan and Edison with a 3&2 win over Henry and Tom
This left match 3 on a tightrope all square after 16 Tom and Matthew won a putting contest on 17 to go 1 up and
manage to hold on to smallest of margins as Charile’s putt grazed the hole so he and Will lost 1 down
So all to the last match which after a great 14 tth hole from Jack brought him and Luis back to 2 down against a dovetailing
well Thomas and Jack. Luis and Jack ground out another win on 16 to be on the 18 th one down with it all to play for and a
textbook play of 18 from Jack Lockwood provided the GGU with the win to halve not only their match but the match as a
whole
It has to be said the matches were played in great spirit with the CAP team quickly gelling and mirroring the team support
ethic of last years GGU success while the U14s echoed that built on their winter work with a smile. Huge thanks to
Cirencester GC for providing an ideal venue and great food. Also a huge thanks to all the parents for not only getting the
boys there but providing such great and much appreciated support
